Can any organisation use DONATE™'s online auction services?
DONATE™’s online auction service is available to any charitable organisation that is registered with DONATE™. If you are not yet registered with DONATE™ you can do so for free here. Once registered please contact hello@nationalfundingscheme.org where one of the team will support you.
How to set up an auction and how long does it take?
As an organisation wishing to use our auction service you must have a DONATE™ account. See instructions here.

If you would like to proceed, please email hello@nationalfundingscheme.org to get your Auction started. Your Auction should be available within five working days from receipt of your information but you should allow 2 weeks.
Can we track and manage our auctions?
Yes, once signed up you have access to your self-serve portal. This gives you 24/7 access to donation reports and GDPR compliant donor opted-in data. The portal also enable you to view all bids per lot, amend thank-you emails and texts and much much more. Login is here: https://platform.nationalfundingscheme.org/portal/login
What auctions does DONATE™ offer?
DONATE™ offers online, silent and live auction services.
The online auction operates purely online with guests bidding through text and web links. The silent auction service allows at-table guests to bid online using their phones, computers or tablets. Live auctions are run by an auctioneer with DONATE™ providing the payment service.
All payments are made through our platform without the need to rent/use PDQ machines.
What is included in the online auction service?
DONATE’s online auction service includes:
- Payment options and payment links for winners
- Start and end times
- Lot item descriptions & images
- Bid increments
- Live totalisers
- Outbid and winning alerts
- Option for iPad hire at events, contact us for further information
Do you provide screens of lots offered and amounts raised?
Yes, we provide weblinks to item listings, recent bids and live totalisers which you can display during the evening.
How do supporters bid on auction lots?
Supporters can bid on auction items from their mobile phones or tablets and there is no need to pre-register with DONATE™. Registration is required at the point of payment.
How are bidders notified when they have been outbid?
Bidders will receive a message via text or email alerting them they have been outbid on an item.
If a bidder has won an auction lot, then they will receive an email or text confirming their win with a link to their payment page.
How do auction lot winners pay?
At the end of the event, winning bidders are sent a messages via email/text with a web link taking them to their payment page. Payments can be be made by credit card, PayPal or one of our contactless units.
Cash payments can be added manually to provide an accurate amounts of funds raised.
Is there a limit to how many auctions lots we can set up?
No. There is no limit to the number of auction lots your charitable organisation can set up for an event. However, please note we reserve the right to charge an admin fee for auctions with more than 30 lots.
Do we have access to the donor's email address or mobile numbers for future marketing purposes?
DONATE™ is fully GDPR compliant. By default a donor is not giving permission for their data being made available for marketing purposes. Should the donor give their permission (ie through responding to a specific request) then we will make such opted-in data available to you.
What are DONATE™'s charges for running online auctions?
If the value of all your lots totals £1500 or more, DONATE™ does not charge for running and setting up an online auction.
If the value of all your lots is less than £1500, a charge of £100 is made for setting up your online auction.

When do we receive funds from DONATE™?
Funds are received by National Funding Scheme (registered charity) and passed across (less fees) as per our Affiliation Agreement (see Agreements for charities and non-charities).
Is Gift Aid available on the winning auction lots?
Gift Aid may be available on winning auction lots subject to HMRC rules. DONATE™ will work with you to maximise the amount of Gift Aid that can be reclaimed.
Can DONATE™ source the prizes for our online auction?
